The Macbook is working flawlessly, I had to do a few software updates as I was also moving from OS-X 10.6.8 to 10.12.6, but the transition was mostly painless and the new computer is noticeably zippier, especially online. The tradeoff was that the price was extremely reasonable. I ended up selecting a very similar reconditioned 2012 Macbook Pro, with 16 Gig RAM and a 1 TB HD from OWC, It was listed as good condition and I found one extremely minor dent in the case. I still wanted USB and Firewire 800 interfaces, and a superdrive. I wanted to get something very similar but with more memory, larger HD, better condition, etc.
